Final Chance Weyr
In the start of a long Interval, a virulent disease breaks out among dragonkin. While three of every four infected whers eventually recover, the disease is fatal for dragons and flits without exception. Highly contagious through breath, and able to be transferred among dragonkin by humans too, quarantine is entirely ineffective. It soon becomes clear that dragons will imminently go extinct, and a radical plan is devised to avert that outcome. Three gravid queens will go forward in time, laying there eggs in a time when, it is assumed, the disease will have died out.
As the long Interval draws to a close, a patrol of whers hears a desperate cry for help from three queen dragons - but dragons have been believed extinct for almost 400 Turns. The whers and their handlers arrive to three clutches worth of dragon eggs, but the mother golds are gone, for if they stayed they would surely infect their offspring with the fatal disease. A Weyr is quickly erected around the eggs, which are guarded by whers.
Now the people of Pern must move quickly to establish a new population of dragons before Threads’ return, but many questions remain. How will the long trip Between have affected the developing hatchlings? Will they truly be free of disease? Will the dragon population really be able to recover in time to meet the Pass, expected in just six Turns’ time?
Features
* Follow the revival of the dragon population from scratch
* At least five non-canon dragon ranks to be revealed
* All female dragonkin able to clutch
* A strong emphasis on wher handlers
* Three clutches combined on the Sands with two queen eggs between them.

Final Chance WeyrHome - History - Dragons - Whers - Availability - AdvertiseAt the start of a long Interval, a virulent disease breaks out among dragonkin. While three of every four infected whers eventually recover, the disease is fatal for dragons and flits without exception. Highly contagious through breath, and able to be transferred among dragonkin by humans too, quarantine is entirely ineffective. It soon becomes clear that dragons will imminently go extinct, and a radical plan is devised to avert this. The handlers quickly erect a Weyr around the eggs, scrambling to assemble substantial candidates, and remain to usher in and guide the new generation of dragons. Now the dragons have hatched, but while some are healthy, there are many abnormalities among them - strange colours, deformities, peculiar congenital illnesses - will these dragons be able to fight Thread, expected in just six Turns’ time? And will Pern accept them?? Across the continent, at Fort Hold, purists smart at the thought of dragons under wher control; what will this discord mean for Pern? Features* Follow the revival of the dragon population from scratch * Five non-canon dragon ranks with more potentially to come * All female dragonkin able to clutch * A strong emphasis on wher handlers * Several high-ranking positions available * Recent reveal of playable wild whers * Ranking & clutching positions available in the White Shell Pack * Site-wide, summer-long plot kicking off in July

Final Chance WeyrHome - History - Dragons - WhersAt the start of a long Interval, a virulent disease breaks out among dragonkin. While three of every four infected whers eventually recover, the disease is fatal for dragons and flits without exception. Highly contagious and able to be carried between dragonkin by humans too, quarantine is entirely ineffective. It soon becomes clear that dragons will imminently go extinct, and a radical plan is devised to avert this. Three gravid queens will go forward in time, laying there eggs in a time when, it is hoped, the disease will have died out. Now the dragons have reached adulthood, and the second generation of new dragons have begun to hatch. Tensions continue to rise: Fort Hold is not content with their five stolen dragons, and have sent delegates to the Weyr in an attempt to claim more. Syrim Hold, home of pirates, seeks dragons for their own as well. OOCly, our first site anniversary is in March! We'll have contests to create a wher rank and a dragon subspecies, and a Gather event with both IC and OOC prizes. (Not to mention the gold hatching.) We're also working toward opening Fort Weyr as a second PC location! Features* Follows the revival of the dragon population from scratch * Six non-canon dragon ranks with more to come * Two non-canon firelizard subspecies * No sexuality-based impression * Gendered impression only for golds and bronzes; nonbinary characters considered according to the player's preference * All female dragonkin able to clutch * A strong emphasis on wher handlers * Playable wild/unbonded whers * Several upcoming dragon and wher hatchings

The next generation of the original thirty who traversed space and time are starting to Rise, but with Threadfall looming only three turns away, will their collective efforts be enough? OOCly, we're working toward opening the stringently traditional and politically fraught Fort Weyr as a second PC location!
